The history of LBD…

Lindsay Boughton Design combines over 20 years of experience, 10 of which are specifically in interior design and renovations. Lindsay is trusted by vendors, contractors, builders and homeowners alike because of her years of experience, impeccable eye for design, and infectious spirit.

Lindsay did not set out to become an Interior Designer. With a background in Human Resources, she was looking to start her career in Champaign-Urbana. During this time of soul-searching and job hunting, Lindsay began to paint and decorate their own home. Soon enough, friends started asking her to decorate their spaces. What started as a favor, turned into many jobs, which turned into a business.

Today, LBD specializes in hard-surface design primarily for kitchens, bathrooms, new builds and first floor remodels. Lindsay loves to create classic modern spaces that improve functionality, while inspiring beauty.

I have found myself in a career that I did not set out to do, only to realize that it’s what I’m made to do.

Meet Lindsay

As a child, I would craft with my grandmother, paint with my mom, and sew, bead, draw, and create on my own. By third grade, I was taking my creations to school and selling them to any child or teacher that thought they were worth something (or pretended even if they didn’t).

However, I pursued degrees outside of these passions. I received my BA in Communications and MA in Human Resources and Industrial Relations, both from the University of Illinois. I worked in HR for a short time, only to stumble into the world of Interior Design in 2004. I have been working in this field ever since.

I currently live in Mahomet, Illinois with my husband, three kids and Ziggy, our favorite dog. I am passionate about traveling and discovering things about various cultures. Specifically, over the past few years, I have found a love and calling for missions from traveling internationally to being a light in the community and in my neighborhood.

Meet Katy

Katy Leman started with LBD in 2026. After a few exciting conversations, she decided to join the LBD team, specializing in client engagement and project management.

Katy lives in Mahomet, Illinois, with her husband and three children. She earned a B.A. in Communications and an Ed.M. in Human Resources from the University of Illinois. Drawing on a decade of corporate experience, she is excited to apply her skills in communications, collaboration, and organization to support LBD’s clients and team.

When she’s not working, Katy can often be found on the tennis court, coaching volleyball, or enjoying time outdoors with family and friends. Her faith, family, and home are at the heart of everything she does.
